FRANKLIN, Tenn. — PlantCML, an EADS North America company, recently announced the release of the new Self-Registration Portal (SRP) for its industry-renowned The Communicator! NXT emergency notification solution. This highly secure yet user-friendly Web site allows organizations to enlist previously unavailable contact information, such as wireless and VoIP telephone numbers, SMS and e-mail addresses, from the expected recipients of automated communications.
PlantCML developed the SRP in direct response to the growing need for public and private sector organizations to expand their notification reach in such critical events as inclement weather, security breaches and campus safety threats. Through the SRP, people can sign up to receive emergency alerts issued before, during and after situations of this nature. They also can opt in to receive general, non-emergency communications pertaining to community services, daily operations, volunteer efforts, and so on.
“Increasing numbers of people are relying on mobile phones, e-mail and SMS for communications,” said Mike Adams, product line manager of PlantCML’s Notification Solutions and Services (NSS) division. “The same holds true for emergency notification, and so we, as the established leader, must accommodate the needs of both our industry and our individual clients through tools like the SRP.”
Following implementation of the SRP for The Communicator! NXT solution, the option to “click to register” appears on an organization’s Web site, seamlessly linking visitors to PlantCML’s hosted portal. Here, people can complete a short web form, supplying their address, landline number, wireless (or mobile) number, SMS/text device, e-mail address, etc.; and select the types of notifications they want to receive. Residents can update their contact information as often as necessary, helping ensure the accuracy of SRP data at all times.
SRP participants may, if required by the organization, also be prompted to provide additional information such as their office location, building or floor to populate custom fields within The Communicator! NXT solution. Once updated in the contacts database, these critical details may be used to dynamically include people in system activations.
The SRP for The Communicator! NXT solution features highly robust administrative capabilities, allowing organizations to individually establish security parameters and customize the user interface. These include defining the fields that can be viewed and/or completed by participants and the custom labeling of required and optional ones. Administrators also can determine the reports they wish to view or print, such as Expired Accounts and Accounts with an Unverified Email Address. Additionally, they can easily drill down to view participant details via hyperlink(s).
“By implementing the SRP, organizations can expand their communications reach to include a much wider audience,” said Adams. “Just as important, they can do so without additional resources and with minimal expense, making it a ‘win-win’ for both our clients and the people who will be notified.”
