(AP) NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Authorities say an employee crashed his car through the gate at a Pillsbury plant in southern Indiana and fatally shot a co-worker in the parking lot.
New Albany police say the shooting occurred Wednesday as officers were investigating a report of gunshots outside a home less than a mile away.
Floyd County Coroner Leslie Knable says the shooting involved a love triangle between a woman who lived at the home, the suspect and the victim.
Police identified the victim as 48-year-old Christopher J. Trowell of Louisville, Ky.
The suspect was arrested outside the plant and is being held on a preliminary charge of murder. His name has not been released.
A spokesman for General Mills says both the victim and the suspect worked at the plant.
Police Capt. Keith Whitlow says several Pillsbury workers saw the shooting, which unfolded during a shift change at the plant.
