CASPER, Wyo. — Authorities say a pedestrian has died after being struck by pickup truck that was being chased by a state trooper in downtown Casper.
The truck hit a power pole and then hit the pedestrian before crashing into a building. The pedestrian died later in the day.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Tuesday morning's chase started when the truck passed a trooper traveling at 90 to 100 mph. Patrol spokesman Sgt. Stephen Townsend says the crash happened before the trooper was able to catch up with the truck.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene to the Casper Star-Tribune. They said people inside the building ran from the wreckage as officers moved in with guns drawn looking for the driver.
They found the man inside the building and arrested him.
