PRUE, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an Osage County deputy sheriff was killed when his patrol car crashed as he was responding to a burglary call.
Troopers say 26-year-old Adam Michael Mehagan of Skiatook died in the crash on a county road near Prue early Thursday morning.
Investigators say Mehagan was northbound on a county road shortly after midnight when his patrol car went off the road in a curve and rolled twice. Troopers say Mehagan was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car.
Osage County Undersheriff Lou Ann Brown says Mehagan had been employed with the Osage County Sheriff's Office nine months. He had also worked for the Pawhuska Police Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office.
