RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a police officer responding to a call and another driver hurt in northern New Jersey Thursday.
The crash occurred just after 12:15 a.m. at Route 17 and Highland Cross in Rutherford.
Police Lt. Patrick Feliciano told The Record newspaper the police car was headed east on Highland Cross to assist another officer with a traffic stop and the other vehicle was going north on Route 17.
It's not clear if the officer had turned on his vehicle's emergency lights and siren.
Feliciano says the officer and the other driver were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
No names have been released.
The crash closed northbound Route 17 and all but one southbound lane for six hours.
