OAKLAND, Maine — Police say an 18-month-old Maine girl is in the hospital recovering from a cocaine overdose and her parents have been arrested.
Police say the toddler was in stable condition Thursday at a Waterville hospital.
The girl's father, 30-year-old Justin Currier, was jailed on a probation violation and the mother, 21-year-old Jillian Jones, was charged with felony child endangerment and other offenses. Jones was released on bail.
Police say it appears the girl was playing unsupervised at their Oakland home and got into the cocaine. Both parents were in the same room as the time. Jones called 911 and reported the baby wasn't breathing. When police arrived the child was conscious and alert.
Police Capt. Rick Stubbert told the Morning Sentinel Jones was distraught, but "I wouldn't say the dad is."
