PARK CITY, Ky. (AP) — Authorities say a Kentucky State Police cruiser caused a fatal head-on crash when it moved into oncoming traffic on a southern Kentucky highway.
State police say Trooper Jonathan Biven was driving on U.S. 31W Thursday afternoon when his cruiser crossed the center line and hit a 2003 Ford Mustang. The female driver of the car was flown to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, where she was pronounced dead.
Biven was treated and released from a local hospital.
State Police public affairs officer Bill Gregory told the Glasgow Daily Times a crash investigation involving a state trooper follows the same process as any other investigation (http://bit.ly/qvmzOv). Gregory says an internal investigation will take place as well.
Biven is the public affairs officer for the state police post in Bowling Green.
