RIO DE JANEIRO, APRIL 10, 2012 — Integrated Microwave Technologies, LLC (IMT), a Business Unit within the Vitec Group’s Videocom Division, and a leader in advanced digital microwave systems for MAG (Military, Aerospace & Government) markets, showcases its range of state-of-the-art digital microwave video systems for portable and fixed link airborne applications at LAAD Security Expo 2012, an international exhibition of technology, equipment and services manufacturers, and suppliers for law enforcement, homeland security, public security, police and security managers (Booth H59).
Handheld Receiver / Monitor
IMT’s MobilCMDR (C-COFDM M-Mobile D-Diversity R-Receiver), ruggedized (DVB-T compliant) dual diversity handheld receiver/monitor will be on display at this year‘s exhibition, available in both the 4.7GHz and 6.4 GHz frequencies that are used most often for law-enforcement and public safety. The MobilCMDR is ideal for airborne downlinks and mobile vehicles that operate in tactical and/or strategic settings. It offers exceptional RF performance and durability, combined with true ease of operation and superb H.264/MPEG-2 decoding. The unit displays received video images on a built-in nine-inch high brightness display. The display also features an easy-to-use menu-driven interface. The MobilCMDR is also available with AES decryption capabilities.
Mobile Tactical Receiver
IMT is also highlighting its Mobile Tactical Receiver, which is ideally suited to provide seamless integration for video situational awareness into any first responder vehicles (police, fire, emergency, etc.) and turn them into surveillance and command centers. An important feature of the video downlink system is that it can be integrated into a squad car or first responder vehicles’ existing laptop infrastructure. There are no hardware or software modifications required and there is no interference with the existing computer set-up. The Mobile Tactical Receiver is a ruggedized COFDM (DVB-T-compliant) diversity vehicle-mounted down-link receiver that offers exceptional RF performance and durability with H.264 MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 decoding. These features are combined in a durable weather resistant package delivering unequaled value in a high-quality COFDM receiver. The Mobile Tactical Receiver has AES decryption capabilities that make it ideal for law enforcement, public security monitoring and homeland security applications. In addition, the receiver features an Ethernet port for streaming video over IP to local or remote software or hardware decoders. This allows many remote viewers, in addition to the first responder vehicle, to be able to monitor the same video simultaneously, increasing situational awareness.
SKYMASTERTX VIDEO DOWNLINK TRANSMITTER
Also on display at LAAD Security 2012 is IMT’s new SkymasterTX (SKTX). SkymasterTX is a lightweight, full-featured digital COFDM video downlink transmitter built to address the unique requirements of aircraft downlink operation. The chassis design features either horizontal or vertical ARINC mounting. All of the connections and controls have been located on one side of the unit. This allows the SkymasterTX to be removed from one aircraft and installed in another with ease. A unique feature of the SkymasterTX is a built-in GPS receiver. This allows aircraft position data to be downlinked to the command center for display on a moving map system. This feature allows rapid location of the aircraft.
The SkymasterTX can operate in a wide variety of bands delivering high definition and standard definition video resolutions. The SkymasterTX can output up to 8W of RF power extending and improving link reliability. The SkymasterTX features COFDM digital modulation, which is unaffected by multipath – unlike single-carrier modulation formats such as FM, CDL or QAM. The SkymasterTX has a built-in H.264 (MPEG-4) encoder or optional MPEG-2 encoder. MPEG-4 encoding is the latest encoding method. It requires 50 percent less bit-rate over MPEG-2 improving the reliability of the transmission even more. MPEG-4 also allows for the transmitting of high definition video without sacrificing performance. IMT has taken great care with the design of the internal H.264 encoder. It has been designed with video quality as its cornerstone. The quality of the encoding rivals that of full-featured rack mounted encoders. Knowing that security of the video is critical, the SkymasterTX features the latest in AES 128 and 256 encryption. This feature can be enabled or disabled very easily allowing the mode to be selected depending on the mission requirements. To ensure interoperability between vendors, IMT conforms to BCRYPT, a published, non-proprietary standard.
The front panel LCD and a remote control user interface allow for quick control of preset selection, standby mode and encryption mode. For advanced functions such as changing frequency plans, AES encryption keys, or unit naming, an easy-to-use administration software package is supplied. Configuration is flexible with 16 or more different presets available.
