HONOLULU (AP) — The Honolulu police officer seriously injured in a crash that killed a fellow officer has been released from the hospital.
Police say Officer Herman Scanlan left The Queen's Medical Center on Thursday afternoon.
The 55-year-old officer was hospitalized since the Sept. 13 crash during a traffic stop in West Oahu.
A full recovery is expected.
Officer Eric Fontes died after he was struck by a pickup truck as he stood on the median on Farrington Highway near Ko Olina Resort.
Services for 45-year-old Fontes are set for Sept. 30. A memorial is also scheduled Oct. 8 on Molokai, where he was born and raised.
The 20-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide and later released pending further investigation.
