MONROVIA, Ind. (AP) — State police say a trooper's motorcycle flipped several times after colliding with an SUV on Interstate 70 in central Indiana.
Police say 1st Sgt. Jon Watson was taken by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital with multiple leg fractures and other injuries after the Sunday evening crash. The crash happened as Watson was eastbound on I-70 approaching a construction zone near the Indiana 39 interchange about 15 miles west of Indianapolis.
State police Sgt. Curt Durnil says traffic was merging into the highway's left lane but that the SUV went unexpectedly from the right lane and hit Watson's motorcycle. Watson lost control and the motorcycle rolled several times into the highway's median.
Durnil says Watson is expected to make a full recovery.
