WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – Authorities say a Centerville police sergeant has died in a motorcycle accident while off-duty in Warner Robins.
Police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says that 45-year-old Centerville police Sgt. Woody Hudgens was killed in the crash on Thursday. She said he was driving west on Russell Parkway when his motorcycle and a car collided at the intersection.
Centerville Police Chief Sidney Andrews tells WMAZ-TV that Hudgens worked for his department for three years, after 15 with Warner Robins police.
Andrews said Hudgens was a certified police instructor who taught defensive tactics to other officers and was a SWAT team member.
Andrews said the death is a tragic loss to Centerville's police department and the law enforcement community in central Georgia.
