ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – WFTV.com reports that a Florida police officer has distinguihed himself in a rather unique manner.
Altamonte Springs Officer Bernardo Rodriguez wrote over 500 traffic citations in the month of June. The average is 150. Officials say that Rodriguez isn't doing anything unusual but is simply watching well known traffic hot spots.
While drivers have their suspicions about the spike in tickets Commander Mark Anderson says that there are no indications that Rodriguez is operating over-aggressively. He also adds that Officer Rodriguez will most likely be spending a considerable amount of time in trafic court in the future.
Despite arguments that the department is simply trying to gain revenue, officials respond that the spike represents quality traffic enforcement.
