WASHINGTON (WJLA) – Eleven people were injured early Monday morning in a drive-by shooting near Washington's Sursum Corda neighborhood, police say.
MPD officials say that the shooting erupted at about 2 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed during a press briefing that 11 people were indeed wounded during the early morning drive by shooting.
All of the victims were conscious and breathing when they were found, though, police said. The most serious injury was sustained by one person who was reportedly shot in the back.
Police are on the lookout for two cars: an older model blue BMW and a silver sedan.
One man has been detained for questioning.
The scene and investigation will be ongoing and active for several hours.
