EASTPOINTE, Mich. — Authorities say a suburban Detroit police officer was struck by a car while conducting a traffic stop and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports the Eastpointe officer was hit late Monday by a suspected drunken driver and last listed in temporary serious condition. The Detroit Free Press reports a police dog, Tiko, who was with the officer also was hurt.
Police say the officer stopped a pickup and was arresting the driver when his patrol car was hit. The pickup driver and the driver of the car also were injured.
Police say a passer-by called for help using the officer's radio.
