MILLVILLE, New Jersey (MyFoxPhilly) – A police officer from Millville died Sunday morning after he was involved in a crash that has stunned the entire community.
It was a sad day for the police department as one of their own was killed while on duty around 2:15 a.m.
Millville police say that Officer Christopher Reeves, an eight-year veteran with the department, was killed.
They say his cruiser collided with another car at the intersection of North Third and Broad Streets.
The fatal crash happened right at an intersection in the middle of a neighborhood. Residents say it was a hard thing to see.
One Millville resident told us she saw the aftermath of the collision just outside her home that she says was the result of a high-speed chase down North Third Street.
An investigation into this crash is being handled by the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
Reeves' wife, Susan, is also a police officer on the force.
Reeves is also being remembered outside of the department. He used to be a firefighter.
