BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Bridgeport police dog has been injured in a hit-and-run accident.
City spokeswoman Elaine Ficarra says Titus was outside his cruiser with his handler, Lt. Kevin Gilleran, when he was struck by a passing car at the corner of Beardsley Street and Seaview Avenue.
Ficarra says Titus was rushed to the VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center in Shelton and has been stabilized.
Gilleran was brushed by the car and suffered some bruises.
Ficarra says Gilleran and Titus were responding to a domestic violence call at about 9 p.m. Thursday night when they were struck. No arrests have been made.
