I'm sick of it sick to death, as a matter of fact. Three things have disgusted me, and they all have to do with the shooting at Fort Hood. Ol' Bullethead went high order when I heard another cop talking smack about Sgt. Kimberly Munley. Moron-cop picked up on some P.O.S. (piece of never mind) blog that went viral. Some useless hater wrote that Munley didn't do as described, and then a bunch of other useless haters who think women can't be cops picked up on it and the filth went nuts. Instead of defending one of our own, the bozos I heard jumped on the misogynistic bandwagon.
I'll end this debate. I spoke with a high-level Pentagon source with full access to the investigation. Munley saw Hassan and opened fire on him, bringing his attention to her so he stopped killing other people. Hassan charged Munley and shot her. She shot him, and they both went down. Sgt. Mark Todd, Munley's partner also a hero engaged Hassan, and he ran up and kicked the gun out of Hassan's hand. The blogging idiot wasn't in a position to see all that happened, so he didn't see Munley.
I'm not sure what's worse this idiot putting up his blog or that our profession has become so jaded that a bunch of moron cops latched onto what this clown said instead of trusting the investigation. I'll bet these are the same scumbags that jumped on Obama for making a statement before he had all the information in that Cambridge deal. The only solution is to admit the truth many of us already know and Munley showed. Women are qualified to be cops.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of the officers ambushed in the Lakewood shooting. Here, I'm going to concentrate on active shooters I'll save ambushes for another time. Thank whomever you pray to that Munley and Todd were there to deal with Hassan because if they hadn't been, he'd have continued killing.
This creates two issues. The first is that any cop who goes anywhere without a heater should be drummed out. Would you like being the thumb-sucker who watched your children get killed because you were too lazy to grab that hog-leg and throw it into your pocket? I expect all cops to bring what the people have entrusted you to carry, and be ready to use it when one of these whackos shows up. Since Columbine, we ve changed our tactics. It should ve started long before then, such as at that McDonald s in San Ysidro, Calif. We re expected to attack active shooters. Nationally, a few off-duty officers have done the right thing and have prevented another slaughter. Be a witness if no one is getting hurt while you re off. But if there's violence, attack.
The final issue has to do with educating the public. Active shooters are cowards seeking easy targets. Let's start a national POP project to harden up all targets. What's this mean? If someone is chilling at the local coffee shop or in a university classroom and some freak starts blasting people, everyone present must take immediate violent action. Hassan shot more than 50 people at Fort Hood. Run the numbers, and figure out your chances of getting away they're low. That scum-sucker at Virginia Tech was shooting people hiding under desks.
The bottom line:Running and hiding don't work. When an active shooter shows up, whoever's there has just had their ticket punched. Every second you're alive after that is borrowed time. Regular folks should understand that cops probably won't get there in time to save many of them. But if the shooter walks into a room with 10 people and all 10 cower, all 10 die. If five attack and tear the arms and head off the coward, I guarantee all 10 won't die. Attacking is the only way to increase our odds of survival. If a few active shooters have their ears torn off and their eyes poked out by the very people they were trying to kill, it ll only dissuade the next jackass. This isn't an easy message to pass, but it's an important one. Start with your friends and family, and be convincing.
I certainly don't want any of my children to die. If their number comes up I want them to go out trying to kill the bastard instead of waiting to be executed under a desk. This may be a crazy idea, but it's our best chance.
