Sometimes a product comes along that's noteworthy due to its effectiveness or ability to solve a problem. It might not be a trend setter, but it should be recognized. Cops are certainly into gear, especially gear that makes life easier for them.
Admittedly, gun care products don't get me fired up. It s a pretty bland subject. Where I live and work, most of the popular products work quite well, but that's not the case in many parts of the world. With the growing popularity of semi-auto and full-auto weapons in law enforcement and the military, gun cleaning and lubrication are taking center stage. The fact is that some products that are well known and popular just aren't as good as others.
In addition, many of these products are petroleum-based and produce fumes that require ventilation. I remember the first time I cleaned my Smith & Wesson revolver with Hoppe's in my wife's kitchen. Although Hoppe's might be perfume for men, she wasn't a happy camper.
Being able to clean your firearm without health risk is a good idea, but at the same time, the gun should be cleaned and lubed in such a way that the product doesn t actually attract dirt and grime. Gunzilla is such a product. The truth is that Gunzilla is the only cleaner/lubricant I use these days. The reason? It works!
Gunzilla was created by Don Kettles, who spent most of his career selling FAA-certified aircraft. Building airplanes educates one about safety issues, because safety in flight cannot be compromised. Kettles was stunned when a U.S. soldier came home complaining about the hazardous chemicals the military required him to use to clean his weapon. No protection, no MSDS sheet and no warnings period.
Kettles began researching the issue and learned that weapon malfunctions in combat caused by sand, dust, carbon and cold temperatures were common. It didn't make sense that a country that put a man on the moon couldn't provide soldiers with a safe and effective weapon cleaner. Kettles decided to launch Top Duck Products, LLC, with the goal of bringing safer, more effective gun care products to our soldiers, law enforcement and sportsmen alike.
Gunzilla BC-10 is a patent-pending gun cleaning formula, which was developed for the military. Made from agriculturally based chemicals, Gunzilla can be used on everything from small handguns to full-auto weapons. Gunzilla is a one-step, all-in-one product designed to clean, lubricate and protect. It removes rust, lead, copper, plastic, carbon and even cleans corrosive ammo quickly with a natural-base chemical. It is faster, more effective and safer than water-based or petroleum-based solvents.
Gunzilla can be used on all smokeless and black powder guns. It eliminates the need to use soap and water when cleaning black powder guns and also eliminates the use of oil after cleaning. Among its benefits are:
- Low odor;
- No phenol;
- No Teflon;
- Non-corrosive;
- No ammonia;
- Non-flammable;
- Airline safe in checked baggage;
- Plant-based chemicals used;
- No hazardous materials; and
- Soap and water clean-up.
My favorite Gunzilla story doesn t involve firearms at all, but it did save my life, so to speak. I like front sights with a bright, contrasting color, and one evening I was painting the front sight on a Glock pistol with Testor s model paint in florescent orange. I was doing this in the study where my wife had just installed white shag carpeting. I know, I know: You can see this coming, right? Well, you guessed it, I spilled the paint on the carpet, and I panicked as I saw my life flash before my eyes. I looked around desperately and saw a new bottle on Gunzilla sitting on the table. Desperately I sprayed the carpet with the Gunzilla and, before my eyes, it started to lift the paint. I worked on it for about 10 minutes and it removed every bit of paint from the carpet! I was so happy with the result that I actually called my wife into the room and confessed the incident. After checking the carpet thoroughly, she looked at me and said, Boy, you sure are lucky.
Thanks Gunzilla!
