ARLINGTON — A suburban Dallas police officer and two others were found shot to death at an apartment complex Tuesday, shortly after the officer responded to an emergency call about a domestic disturbance.
Dispatchers received a call about shots fired at the apartment complex in Arlington shortly after an officer arrived to respond to the domestic disturbance call, police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said. Arlington is a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Additional police responded to the second call and found the body of their fellow officer and two others in the complex. Officials did not release the identities or ages of any of the victims.
The apartment complex was on lockdown and residents were told not to return to their homes until Wednesday.
This is the second time in a year that an Arlington police officer has died in the line of duty. In January, an officer was killed in a traffic accident.
“Any time you lose an officer in the line of duty . . . it’s hard on the department,” Richard said. “This is hard on our city and our community.”
Mayor Robert Cluck released a statement saying he was “shocked and saddened” by the shooting.
